We want to extend a gracious ‘thank you’ to our amazing guests and hard-working Verdad family who continue to make our hotel a ‘home away from home’ for all.
As we accept this award, we are reminded of the importance of community. We built Verdad around the Nicaraguan lifestyle and immersed ourselves in the surrounding community from the very beginning.
When visiting the resort, guests have the pleasure and opportunity to do the same - even down to the craft and making of Verdad. We believe in buying local and employing local and running programs that support our community.
Each space at Verdad comes with a plethora of custom-made Nicaraguan treasures. Co-owner Dayna Winter recalls when their close friend Mario, a masterful woodworker, spent hours upon hours perfecting the designs of each bed and piece of furniture that would live on the property; “His patience and humor is incredibly admirable. I can be a bit of a perfectionist - but Mario would just laugh and jokingly call me ‘el Jefa’”
Throughout our private casitas and pool rooms you will find hand-crafted tiles designed and produced in Granada, Nicaragua. These beautiful tiles feature the traditional craftsmanship of cement tiles that were made hundreds of years ago. Founder of Granada Tiles, Marcos Cajina rediscovered these historic tiles in the colonial city of Granada and utilizes a timeworn method of mixing cement and ceramic to create the beautifully hand painted tiles that now reside in the rooms at Verdad. Preserving the natural beauty of the tiles by producing environmentally friendly products, is a vital part of the company's values and practices.
The sole purpose of Verdad is to unwind and immerse oneself in the natural environment. By committing ourselves to sustainability and conservation, we continue to partner with our local craftsman to create a space for our guests that harmonizes with the awe-inspiring nature surrounding Verdad Nicaragua.
